For this project, I designed a responsive website for a local tile shop. The independently owned business is less than two miles from my home. They sell tiles to many different clients including straight to homeowners as well as contractors. Surprisingly, they do not have a website or any graphic identity. I chose 4 Ever Tile because it is local, but also because I’ve been doing my internship there, so I understand their needs, client base and how they sell their units.

My goal for the website is to make it easy to navigate with a clean design. Because they have a very large inventory of tiles and an even wider variety of pricing, an e-commerce website would be much too complicated. Instead, users are encouraged to visit the store to receive quotes and talk to one of the associates. The main feature I wanted to include is a gallery page to showcase different ideas and products that could be most popular or on trend.

Looking through the datasets, I saw a list of hotels and motels in New York City and thought: what kind of application would be useful to residents, commuters and travelers alike? An app that helps in last minute situations when you may need a place to crash when you've had a bit too much to drink or missed the last bus of the night. Introducing: City Stay.

City Stay has plenty of filters for users to personalize their hotel experience. Need Wi-Fi? What about a pool and/or hot tub? Or maybe you're looking for all the best amenities, but a price that's easy on your savings. Use these filters to find the perfect room to hold you over for the next night or two.

City Stay: New Yorkers app for the unexpected times of life.

The goal for this project is to redesign the website for the clothing company UNIQLO. Uniqlo is a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer. They carry three different product lines. The first main line is simple and basic design, which people are easy to mix and match. Then, the second line is cooperating with different artist or museums, such as Moma to create colorful pattern to be printed on sweaters. The third is cooperation with Ines de la Fressange to create high end pieces.

H+M as analogous website and Polyvore as the virus website. So, in the website, the color and graphics used were really interesting, but it seems like too much and does not function smoothly. However, the major problem about the existing webpage is too long with ads upon ads, which people do not have the patience to scroll down. Each pages are applies a different layout, which does not look consistent. Grid system is not strong enough on the website, which wastes a lot of unnecessary space on the webpage.

Therefore, goal was to minimize the length of the homepage to make it easy to people to read and follow it. Strengthen the grid system on the website, plus bring the consistency on all the pages. Beside these, cooperating with Polyvore to bring Uniqlo clothing into lifestyle.

Logo design is all around us. To general public, logos serve as an instant reminder of a company or product; to the client they are the point of recognition on which their branding hangs; and to us as designers they represent the challenge of incorporating client’s ideologies into one single graphic.

For this branding identity, tones of brainstorming ideas in digital format, incorporating elements, choosing appropriate typography, using colors correctly came together and made the logo alive. This logo is designed for cafe. They sell cookies, candies, ice-cream, coffee, beverages and etc.

Bitter, Sweet and Stop is an affective logo which is distinctive, practical, graphic, simple in form and conveys and intended message. It is very simple logo which allows for easy recognition and allows the logo to be versatile and memorable and effective in future.

Logo designed for the cleaning company in Germany. Their mission is to provide green home cleaning product and services.

Engin Language Center offers a selection of language classes and courses to the students. Their purpose is to help students communicating effectly in a foreign language and interact in a culturally appropriate manner with native speakers of that language. This qualification just start in first step from “Engineerings Language Center.” As much as having clear strategy and ideas impacts their logo selection. Just gives the clean and right to the point message to language learners.

IN ISTANBUL

This book tells the story about my home county, Istanbul, Turkey. The reason is for making this book to help the foreigners who would like to visit Istanbul in short term. They will get information about the best top 10 places to see.

There are couple different page layouts that work well together, and I used them throughout my book because from my experience this idea keeps my book interesting and cohesive. Also, the text talks about the story behind the photos. Captions, locations, names, and other details keeps the story following. Positively, the font that I used is legible, but that it does not overpower my images.

Everything in the book is well organized, and all entire books concentrated on the lay-outs and designs. Therefore, as I know well designed books have elements of consistency, which are shared across the whole design, from cover to cover. This thematic design is the hallmark of a professional and carefully considered into my design. I wanted to make the book look more expensive, luxurious and aspirational. Photos and colors may change with each issue, which is understandable, but typography is remaining a constant. In order to take to my consideration, the sort of personality, I wanted my book to have and do my research into finding the right typeface that will communicate this.

FLORAL LOOK

Flowers are a heartwarming and appreciated gesture any time. Not only do flowers make us happier than we know, they have strong positive effects on our emotional well-being. They are of various color and hues. They are a sign and symbol of love, sacrifice, regard, revenge, beauty and goodwill. The Floral Magazine will remind you one more time the memories or meaning of each blossom.

All photographs are original and gently put together in the book, as this affect how progress with the project layout of the book. It really motivates the viewers while looking at each blossom.

Speech Booklet

Composition is pretty important. A successful composition means that I have arranged, distributed, aligned and compiled my design in a way that not only looks good, but also is highly functional and effective. All professional Graphic Design tips came together whole inside this book, and it created cohesive design.

This book is only type base. So, strong focal point in this book helps readers’ eyes naturally settle on the important design pieces. Some ways to draw focus are through techniques like contrast and leading lines, hierarchy and highlights draw attention toward the design. Especially, hierarchy is the arrangement and design of elements in order to visually signal importance, so that is why I made a more important element bigger and bolder than a less important element which I made smaller and fainter. This technique also created contrast between the negative and positive spaces.

Bon Appetit is a unique food magazine which takes pleasure and interest in cultural food of all kinds. Bon Appetit is a new food and culture journal that binds inspirational words, unique images and ideas with the humble and universal subject of food.

The Magazine is based in Turkey, I am inspired not only by a true passion for food and dining but the exciting influx of new restaurants, bars, cafe’s, stalls and ingredients that are increasingly available to people. This magazine is also available in USA to share this exiting cultural shift and to celebrate food as a catalyst for creativity.

Believing that there are a lot of people who want a food magazine without the lifestyle, without the travel stories. They really want to learn about food. This Turkish food magazine will emphasize the science of cooking, and some of them has breaking down cooking techniques step by step, so that home cooks can improvise with confidence.

The magazine designed from original photos shooting and using the way of typography created more unique and beautiful food magazine. I hope it will make the people mouth’s water.

Headphones with Pantone Colors

The objective of this project was to create and follow an advertising brief for a fictitious partnership. My group was assigned Beats by Dre. I thought of the idea for Beats to partner with Pantone to release headphones using various Pantone Coated or Uncoated colors, and of course, the Pantone Color of the year.

After a lot of experimentation with colors and typefaces, I had designed the billboard and subway images with a clean, singular image using the Pantone color card template.

The purpose of this poster project was to showcase my learnings from my Typography class. I was to design a poster sized at 18” x 24” showing my sketching and process work that lead to my final compositions. Some requirements for the project included adding an indexical image, a photography and a short description about what I believe I learned in the class.

The project itself was very vague, and I was given some freedom with my directions. I quite enjoyed this project because I felt like I was not bound to a specific idea or outcome. While working on this project, I realized the journey I’d taken through the semester and how my typographical skills had progressed through the four-month semester.

Personal Frustration

For this project, I designed a fictitious campaign in response to a personal frustration; chewing gum. The purpose of the project is not to solve the frustration, but to externalize it into a sculpture or exhibition. My frustration with chewing gum needed to be communicated via a sculpture that I’d decided would be in New York City’s most frequented area, Times Square.

Personally, I hate chewing gum— it feels unnatural and gross. To think, you’d chew on something and keep it in your mouth for however long to only freshen your breath.

Why not just brush your teeth? Or rinse with mouthwash? Surely, the gum would collect more bacteria and only do more harm long-term. So of course, I researched the side effects of chewing gum and cross-referenced it with the amount of pollution in New York.

For my installation piece, I wanted to showcase the amount of chewing gum that pollutes the beautiful city of New York. So, in order to really show the effects of chewing gum and pollution, I decided to use the renowned Statue of Liberty to represent the city.

Victoria Secret

I was interested in creating an awareness-based campaign that involved a partnership with Victoria’s Secret. I had the idea for an anti-rape campaign that would involve designing underwear with different sayings like “Keep calm, be a good boy”, “Get permission before unwrapping”, “We are much more than this”, “I am NOT asking for it.” I branded the movement as the Consent Revolution and created bus shelter posters and an engaging call to action hashtag, encouraging the audience to,

“Join the #ConsentRevolution.”

Dots

I created a font family consisting of an upright, italic and bold typeface using the modular grid. Phase one was to explore and sketch each character using gridded paper. Then once I felt I was in a good place with each character, I began to digitize my sketches on Adobe Illustrator. As per the project brief, I was limited to only using three colors. I decided to keep a green theme to remain organic and fresh—much like a circle.

I named my typeface “Dots” because the foundation of each character derived from rectangular dots. Dots elegantly stands out and creates a thought-out balance. It is a highly legible typeface and is readable enough to complement the natural flow of reading. Each character in every weight has rhythm and consistency with professional grade letter spacing. Dots is visually pleasing and as some of my colleagues would say, typographic perfection.

This is a typography project. The challenge is to fit few paragraphs of text about my life in interesting way on 3.5” x 3.5” x 3.5” cube. Requirements for this assignment are to use indexical image, backdrop photography, person’s photography and use only 3 pantone uncoated colors.

Basically, the box is all about me. I grabbed most important phrases/ words from my auto biography and created from them different layout for the text. The main purpose in my bio is focused on my journey in NYC. The color selection was orange, blue, and its shades because it matches with the photograph.

The box itself is looking fun and interesting things to look at. The box absolutely represents me, and my journey in NYC, plus also shows the fun part of my personality.

I allowed the text to control how readers read the box. Besides this, the box has a lot of breathing room that the text is organized yet interesting.
